Land Survey

Precision Surveys for Accurate Engineering Decisions

Delivering accurate, reliable, and actionable survey data using state-of-the-art instruments — enabling precise design and execution for infrastructure, industrial, and construction projects.

Introduction

At Geotest Engineering PVT. LTD., we understand that every engineering project starts with accurate data. Our Modern Land Survey services offer precise land and structural measurements using advanced survey instruments operated by highly skilled and certified professionals.

With over 22 years of experience and adherence to ISO 9001:2015 standards, we ensure that every survey meets both national and international accuracy requirements, providing the foundation for safe, efficient, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

1. Total Station Survey

Modern Total Stations combine the functions of a theodolite and an electronic distance measurement (EDM) device for unmatched precision.

  • Applications: Topographic mapping, site layout, boundary marking, construction staking, as-built surveys.

  • Benefits: High accuracy for angles and distances, quick field data collection, automated calculations, seamless digital output.

2. Differential GPS (DGPS) Survey

DGPS is used for real-time, sub-centimeter positioning by correcting satellite signals using fixed ground-based reference stations.

  • Applications: Large-area contouring, geo-referencing, mapping of infrastructure corridors, land parcel demarcation.

  • Benefits: High positional accuracy, ideal for large-scale projects, fast collection over open and uneven terrain.

3. Drone/UAV Survey

Unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with high-resolution cameras and GPS map vast areas rapidly.

  • Applications: Topographical mapping, construction monitoring, earthwork calculations, stockpile measurement, progress documentation, inaccessible terrain surveys.

  • Benefits: Quick data acquisition, highly detailed orthomosaic and 3D models, reduces manual risk, covers large/complex areas with ease.

4. Lidar Survey

Light Detection and Ranging (Lidar) uses laser pulses to create detailed 3D surface models. Mounted on drones or vehicles, Lidar’s fine resolution is unmatched for terrain, vegetation, and objects.

  • Applications: Dense vegetation/forested areas, city modeling, corridor mapping (rail/road), volumetric analysis, flood risk assessment.

  • Benefits: Precise elevation mapping, penetrates tree canopy, rapid, high-density point cloud generation.

5. Underground Utility & Scanner Survey

We employ ground penetrating radar (GPR) and other advanced scanners for subsurface mapping and detection of buried utilities, voids, and obstacles.

  • Applications: Urban construction projects, foundation investigations, locating pipelines/cables/manholes, road and bridge rehabilitation.

  • Benefits: Non-destructive, accurate utility and void location, assists safe excavation, reduces rework risk.

Case Spotlight

Highway Expansion in North India

We completed a detailed topo & contour survey for a 60 km stretch using Total Station and DGPS. The precise data minimized design changes and saved the client significant construction costs.

Instruments & Technology

We utilize advanced survey equipment to achieve unmatched accuracy:

  • Total Station (for high-precision distance and angle measurements)

  • Auto Level / Digital Level (for levelling operations)

  • Theodolite (for angular measurements)

  • GPS / DGPS Systems (for georeferencing and large-scale mapping)

All equipment is regularly calibrated and operated per IS and ASTM standards.

Our Survey Process

  1. Requirement Collection: Review project scope, drawings, and site conditions.

  2. Survey Planning: Define methods, equipment, and accuracy parameters.

  3. Field Execution: Conduct surveys with strict quality control protocols.

  4. Data Processing: Convert raw survey data into CAD drawings, maps, and reports.

  5. Delivery & Consultation: Provide results with technical explanations and coordination support.

Reporting & Deliverables

  • Geo-referenced survey drawings

  • CAD files and PDF maps

  • Elevation and contour plans

  • Alignment verification and as-built documentation
